The CET seminar — by pros, for pros.
The carefully chosen location for the DOCK DAY HAMBURG presentation series — a small yet elegant space — says it all. On May 11th, 2017, superintendents and technical managers from German shipping lines met for the sixth time to discuss trends, exchange background information, and learn more about a range of topics in the areas of ship operations. The event was held in the Hotel Hafen Hamburg, with its breathtaking views over the city. Everything from St. Michael’s Church to the new Elbe Philharmonic Hall and the big harbor was on display.
The four hour business meeting provided a wealth of information and a valuable look behind the scenes of various docking services. The four presenters illuminated very different aspects of the industry:
Emission reporting – MRV versus IMO
Till Braun, DNVGL
Docking in Turkey – baclava and other facts
Birk Fleischer, CET-Hamburg
A/F protection by sound – it works!
Jan Kelling, Hasytec GmbH
Killing cavitation – 4 years reality
Ralf Sander, MetaLine Surface Protection GmbH
Countless practical tips — strewn throughout the expert presentations almost as an afterthought — provided added value at DOCK DAYS. Instead of being forced to trust images in a glossy brochure or promises on a website, you can get your information first hand from insiders here and find out what the real story is. The presentations themselves, the follow-up question-and-answer sessions, and of course the exchange of information in face-to-face conversations over a cup of coffee provided many opportunities to pass on knowledge and learn about new things.
In the relaxed atmosphere between two presentations, it was easy to strike up a conversation with colleagues from other shipping lines. And that’s an especially important aspect to CET’s managing director, Birk Fleischer. He was very pleased to see participants keen to ask questions and have lively discussions at DOCK DAY HAMBURG, quite a few of which took place at the included lunch that followed. “It’s like with our service,” he summed up with a grin. “Customized and focused on solutions, while providing options based on sound knowledge.”

Getting to the heart of important topics in the industry to provide valuable practical insights, and personal contacts — that’s what CET’s customer event is all about. It’s limited to just four hours in the morning, yet provides shipping lines and ship managers all the knowledge of a full-day or even a multiple-day conference.
