The CET seminar — by pros, for pros.
Ships are technological wonders, true engineering masterpieces. As anyone knows, steel doesn’t float. Nevertheless, thousands of ships defy gravity every day and traverse the world’s oceans.
But ships are even more than that. They are imposing structures in vibrant colors. Ships are both straight and curved, muted and brilliant, calm steel in churning water. We want to shine a light on the aesthetic side of ships and open your eyes to this perspective. We hope your enjoy our Light~Ship gallery. Give it a click!
Ships are a fascinating topic that have captured the imaginations of many. The dramatic curves of a hull, and the sheer bulk and dimensions of a ship — which only become apparent at the dock — are always a special experience and pleasure.
For over a decade now, I have been attempting to capture this fascination in images. My work as a dock superintendent has given me many opportunities to capture ships as I see them — rarely as fully loaded freighters in the water, but instead as exciting shapes, interesting studies in colors and contours. Life surrounding a ship at dock has so many interesting aspects that many people are not aware of. I’d like to show that so others can experience it, too.
That’s why many of my images differ from traditional ship photography. I hope you enjoy them.
